Starting the journey

My youngest daughter, Rebecca, and I have been talking for a couple of years about doing a cross-country motorcycle trip together. Last summer we decided it was time to stop talking and time to make it happen. This is the year!  Rebecca, 15, just finished ninth grade and is very excited about this trip.

We did a 'trial run' over a long weekend last August down the BlueRidge parkway from Waynesboro, VA to Mount Airy, NC. We had a great time together enjoying motorcycle riding, each other's company, God's Creation and 'Mayberry'.

Our ride is a 1993 Honda ST1100 with my 'home-made' trailer

Sunday, June 5, 2011 - a short 'test-run' up to Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park

My good friend, Bob Hunsberger, will be traveling with us. He shares my passion for travelling on two wheels and has also wanted for many years to do a trip like this...   and so the three of us are riding our motorcycles across the continent to Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and back.
