Leaving Nebraska and entering Colorado
Riding across western Nebraska / eastern Colorado was very windy. We found ourselves in perpetual 'lean' into the wind most of the way to Loveland, CO where we stopped for lunch & fuel before climbing the mountains.
Route 34 is a motorcyclists dream carving through a narrow river gorge as it heads up to the resort town of Estes Park and then on to Rocky Mountain National Park
Elk in Rocky Mountain National Park
We stopped at a scenic overlook and less than 2 minutes later a park ranger drove up and closed the gate across the road just above the overlook. A car took a little excursion over the side of the road causing a 90 minute closure while recovery and rescue personnel did their job. Fortunately for the 'off-roaders' they went off the road into trees and snow providing a (relatively) gentle stop. They survived their off-roading experience. Less than a mile up the road they would not have been so fortunate.
Stopping at a scenic overlook on the way to the summit
On our way to the summit
There's still a little bit of snow up here
This might not be the top of the world but I think we're close
more snow...
this is June right?
The views are fantastic but pay attention to the road - there are no guard rails and it's a VERY long way down
Top of the world

Checking in at the Wolford Recreational Area near Kremmerling, CO
It has been an amazing day.
We're tired but we are amazed and awed at the majesty of God's handiwork.
Right on! Great photo's Brad! Kristi and were married in CO and spent time in Loveland, Estes Park while she was living in Boulder. We've made that drive over 34...really cool to see it again through your lens...
